Revealing the True Meanings of the Rites of Tokusa no Kandakara (The Ten Stages of God’s Treasures)
Revealing the True Meanings of the Rites of Tokusa no Kandakara (The Ten Stages of God’s Treasures)
The rites of Tokusa no Kandakara (Ten Stages of God’s Treasures) is the core practice of Hakke Shinto that develops and utilizes the higher functions of the human brain. The rites consist of ten stages of different classes. The following is Nanasawa’s explanation of the rites:
“When you consider the basis of human consciousness, it is important to speculate on why the brain has progressed. In my opinion, the human brain has progressed according to a consciousness based in recognizing and separating self and others. The core philosophy of Hakke Shinto, I believe, is to grasp an overall understanding of this human consciousness on ‘self’ and ‘others’. When you look into yourself, you tend to become self-righteous unless you can look as though through the eyes of others. The Rites of Tokusa no Kandakara has been said to be the most important treasure in Hakke Shinto. People may imagine that Kandakara (treasure of God) is some sort of mystical sorcery, but it is not. It is a method to see oneself objectively, and at the same time, to learn the way of classification of the universe; to be one with heaven, earth, and nature. In this regard it is requested that one keep a practical sense, and intelligently present oneself for the rite.”
